Emily Mackay, DO, MSHP

Class of 2019

Emily MacKay is a cardiac and critical care anesthesiologist and postdoctoral research fellow at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She obtained a BFA in music performance from Carnegie Mellon University. After tenure as a professional orchestral musician, her career focus shifted to medicine. In 2011, she obtained a DO degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by residency in anesthesiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and a combined two-year critical care and cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Her current research interests include using medical claims data to investigate intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography utilization.
