Cody Gathers, MD

Class of 2024

Dr. Cody Gathers is a pediatric critical care fellow at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and a National Clinician Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. Originally from Goose Creek, South Carolina, he graduated from Clemson University with a major in biochemistry and a minor in military leadership. He completed medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he cultivated and solidified his desire to pursue a career in eliminating health disparities, improving health policy, and bolstering diversity in the healthcare workforce. He completed his residency in pediatrics in the Boston Combined Residency Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center as part of the Urban Health and Advocacy Track. His current research focuses on the intersection of health disparities and cardiac arrest in addition to analyzing the role of diversity in the experiences of pediatric trainees. He aims to leverage these efforts in developing equitable policies and improving workforce diversity to eliminate health disparities.
