Charmaine Mutucumarana, MD

Charmaine Mutucumarana, MD, is a fellow physician in adult and pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Dr. Mutucumarana is pursuing the MSHP degree with concentration in Healthcare Quality and Safety, to understand current practices, including cognitive and behavioral foundations, of ordering and interpreting infectious diagnostic tests. She hopes to use develop diagnostic stewardship initiatives to reduce negative consequences of antimicrobial overuse and reduce diagnostic error that can lead to anchoring bias and delayed diagnosis.
